Final few days to prep, for what will be a powerful but memory making ride.  Confess that I am a little daunted by what lies ahead, not purely by the heat/distance yet to be ridden, or maneuvering through the Cambodian roads and traffic, but by the underlying reason for the ride - to ride for a cause.  And what a cause.

Aside from being one of the oldest, human trafficking has to be one of the great thefts one person can inflict on another.  As a brother, father, or male, the thought of trading in young lives repulses as frightens me.  And doing this ride with my very much loved and treasured 15 yo daughter makes this ride all the more emotionally difficult, even though of course it will offer what I hope will be one of those father/daughter bonding moments reflected over decades.

And sure, the ride itself is equally daunting.  Riding in the Cambodian summer, a period of heavy tropical rains and intense humidity, will see me shed many needed kilos.  Hope I have both the strength, and yet retain a padded arse, to endure this 400 kilometer ride.

Bella and I fly out at the crack of dawn on the 1st July, via Singapore, arriving into Phnom Penh early that evening.  We'll be joined by other parent/daughter from both Loreto Normanhurs and Kirribilli.  Will use this blogger to keep you all informed, adding and uploading photos, let alone where possible, video clips.

So wish us luck, strength and spirit as over these 8 days, 2nd to 10th July.

A bientot!
